Network Lifecycle

Network Deployments

The Zero Knowledge Network facilitates concurrent deployment of multiple mix networks, each tuned for specific applications and/or cryptographic characteristics. In some cases, client binaries are built to match the parameters of a given network deployment.

Each network is identified by a unique network_id, and all associated artifacts are published and distributed via decentralized file storage (IPFS). These artifacts enable clients to connect to the appropriate network.

Networks evolve continuously, with new deployments introduced over time. As new networks are brought online, older ones are decommissioned at the end of their lifecycle. Currently, transitioning between network deployments is a manual process that requires user input, such as selecting the correct network_id.

As part of ongoing development, the ZKNetwork Client will automate this transition process, ensuring a seamless experience where deprecated networks are retired and replaced transparently, without user intervention.
